Antiguedad clásica Zaragoza

Aragon > Zaragoza> Zaragoza

The city of Zaragoza is a strategic crossroads, which was already appreciated as such by the Romans who founded it and established it as an administrative and political centre, benefiting ever since from its location at the natural crossroads of the Ebro Valley, where two rivers (the Gállego and the Huerva) flow into the Ebro in the city itself.

Created in the conjunction of the Basque, Iberian and Celtiberian peoples, it has been an administrative centre and an exchange of cultures and goods since its birth, what is now called a logistics centre.

The walls were built between the first third of the 1st century and the 2nd century AD to defend the city.

Next to the best-preserved section of Roman walls (on Avenida Cesar Augusta) is the tower of La Zuda (former palace of the Muslim governor of the Plaza), now converted into a tourist office.
