Desde 1869 poseía el tradicional escudo con la barras de Aragón y el león con origen en la capital de la provincia, aprobado por la Real Academia de la Historia en 1921.
En tiempos de Franco fue modificado por acuerdo plenario de 24 de Julio de 1939, aprobado por la Real Academia el 1 de Marzo de 1940.
Trae escudo cuartelado, 1º de oro, una encina arrancada de sinople sumada de una cruz griega de gules (que es de Sobrarbe); 2º de azur, una cruz de plata agujada por abajo en el cantón diestro de jefe; 3º de plata, una cruz de San Jorge de gules, cantonada con cuatro cabezas de moro; y 4º de Aragón. Sobre el todo, escusón oval de oro, una columna (representativa del Pilar de Zaragoza) de plata, cargada con la cruz de Santiago de gules.
