It belongs to the region RIBAGORZA
In the old county of Ribagorza, one of the original ones in the formation of the Crown of Aragon, rose the Romanesque cathedral of Roda de Isábena (11th-12th centuries).
Located in the valley of the river Isábena (in the limits of the current Catalonia) the population of Roda is on a promontory that dominates the access to the Valley, denoting its defensive function, and settling on a pre-Pyrenean territory of dread beauty.
The visitor's attention is drawn to the fact that such a small urban nucleus can house an episcopal seat of such importance in his time and of such artistic and historical interest at present. Only taking into account the historical context of the tenth century, formation of nuclei of resistance to Islam in the Pyrenees, we can understand why the cathedral.
The cathedral has three naves with three sections, a presbytery elevated above a crypt and three apses. The hand of the Lombard stonemasons is still perceptible in the remaining apses of the original work of the XI. The Romanesque paintings that cover the walls of the Nursing Chapel and those of the old vault dedicated to Saint Valero should be highlighted. It also has an interesting cloister made in the twelfth century.
From this town you can make excursions to the nearby valleys of Biescas de Bardagi and Ventanillo.
