The Provincial Museum is housed in the building known as HOUSE OF THE COMMUNITY, former palace headquarters of the Community of Teruel and its villages, which was built in the second half of the sixteenth century. It is a large stone building with stone façade topped by an arcade of fifteen bays and on it a graceful Doric columns forming lodge, as a whole, one of the most beautiful and noble examples of Aragonese Renaissance, and without Hands down the best of the city of Teruel.

The County Council is aware of the value not only monumental but the building is historic for the city of Teruel, agreed to purchase in session April 26, 1973, to be earmarked to host its Provincial Museum. By Decree of February 14, 1974 was declared a Historic and Artistic Interest still, as of this moment, restored at the expense of the Department of Fine Arts and the Provincial own, scrupulously respecting its original bill and to its former excellence . It was opened on March 2, 1987.
The building has four floors (the first divided into ground floor and mezzanine) and the stables, of perfect trace and masonry vaults, which retain intact their cribs. The Museum is designed basically to house collections of ethnography, prehistory and archeology.
The museum, along with a wide research activity, organizes lecture series, exhibitions, and other outreach activities.
