Comarca Sierra de Albarracin in Aragon
Belongs to the county (comarca) of Sierra de Albarracin

Celebrations:

San Bartolomé (patrón de la localidad) que se celebran entre el día 23 y 27 de agosto,
y la Virgen de los Dolores (patrona de la localidad) que se celebran el 4º domingo de septiembre,
aunque hay fiestas desde el viernes al lunes.

History

Royuela tuvo el primer monasterio trinitario de la Sierra de Albarracín, Nª Sª de los Dolores, fundado en el 1208, según José Rodríguez, trinitario, o en el 1270 según otros.

Fue sede de la Comunidad de Albarracín y de la Mesta.
Se firmaron las Ordinaciones de la Comunidad y de la Mesta.
Fue Centro cultural y religioso.
Hasta el 1835 permanecieron en Royuela.

Nature

Tiene unas salinas y una sabina de 4,10 m de perímetro.
En el merendero de las Balsas nace el río Royuela.
Hay una planta protegida la "Puccinelia Pungens", se da en terrenos salitrosos.
