The polygonal apse and the tower are the Mudejar survivors.
The original factory of the parish church of Aguilón, built during the first half of the fourteenth century, takes place during the period of fullness of Aragonese Mudejar art. The model, of a single nave with four sections covered by a cross and polygonal head, accuses the great influence of the Gothic architecture so important during the period.
During the first half of the sixteenth century and in the eighteenth century the church was subject to major reforms, especially the chapels that largely masked the original Mudejar tradition factory; one of those has a special interest in decorating with Mudejar survivor loop plasterwork.
An apse area and the Mudejar tower of powerful volumetry are preserved from the original factory. Built during the second half of the 15th century, it is an example of great interest in the wise combination of the structural system of Christian defensive towers with Almohad tradition solutions for the staircase.
The tower is square, has a unique body and octagonal finish; It combines the Almohad minaret structure of two towers with a box of stairs covered by approach of courses, with the structure of the Christian military tower that divides the interior tower into overlapping rooms covered by a barrel vault.
On the outside it presents half-point openings, open in the low body and blind in the auction; the passage of the square plan to the octagonal end is made by means of turrets in the angles. The decoration is based on corner friezes, rhombus cloth with interior crosses and cantilever brackets by approach of courses.
