Monument of 1904 to the Justice of Aragon, the work of Felix Navarro, placed in a prominent place in the Plaza de Aragón.
The successors of the Catholic Monarchs, Carlos I and, above all, Felipe II, tried to subjugate the different kingdoms of Spain under their person, without taking into account their different way of being and thinking. A large number of Aragonese opposed this policy, which undermined their privileges and freedoms, and confronted the most powerful king on earth, Philip II. This confrontation ended with the military occupation of Aragon in 1591. Then the monarch had the Justice, the most important figure in the kingdom, killed without trial, and took away the freedoms of the Aragonese, of which they were so proud.
