Situation:

To the W. of Zaragoza on ctra. N-II and detour 8 km along a local road, in the direction of Morata de Jalón, in the Tablado mountain range.

Celebrations:

Saint Joseph, March 19;
Corpus Christi, and the following day;
Pilgrimage to San Cristóbal, June;
Virgen del Rosario and Santa Constancia, first Sunday of August;
and Santa Úrsula, October 21.

Calcena: The hidden side of Moncayo.

Calcena is a town of about 105 inhabitants that is 100 km from Zaragoza and 22 km from Illueca, the head of the region. Surrounded by mountains, it is located on the southern slope of Somontano del Moncayo at 836 m. high, in the valley of the Isuela River. The urban center rises from the shore left of said river towards the summits of San José and Santa Bárbara. The orchard occupies the lower part of the valley.
The traditionally poor communications have allowed the traditional flavor of the urban center and the beauty of its natural environment to be preserved.

Calcena Hostel: it occupies an old barracks house.
Its restoration has achieved a building in which architectural barriers have been removed. It is located on the outskirts of the town.
It has capacity for 60 people and has collective and double rooms.
It has a food service, workshops, interior patio, showers, hot water, heating, laundry, kitchen and parking.
It also has qualified monitors-guides who help you discover the natural charms.

In 1997 the Calcena City Council began the construction of complete sports facilities that are expected to be operational in 1998.

The patron saint festivities are celebrated in honor of the Virgen del Rosario and Santa Constancia on the first weekend of August.

December 13 is Saint Lucia's Day, which is celebrated on the Saturday closest to that date with a large bonfire in the square.
